How QInfoNews works

QInfoNews is a curated global intelligence service. This page describes — honestly — what the current MVP does and what it does not.

Approved source registry

We ingest only from a documented registry of approved feeds and APIs: major news wires (Reuters, Associated Press, BBC, Al Jazeera, France 24, Deutsche Welle, NHK World), official institutional releases (United Nations, World Health Organization, European Central Bank), and discovery data from the GDELT Project. We do not scrape the open web, bypass paywalls, or circumvent any publisher's access controls.

What we store, what we do not republish

For each item we store the headline, a short permitted feed excerpt, the publisher, author when supplied, original URL, publication time, language, retrieval time, and a content hash. We do not republish full articles — readers are always linked to the original publisher.

Dedup, clustering and room classification

Items are de-duplicated by content hash and grouped into event clusters using title similarity inside a 48-hour window. Each cluster is classified into a QInfoNews Intelligence Room.

Explainable confidence

The confidence score on a cluster is a weighted combination of:

  • Publisher tier (40%) — editorial tier assigned in the source registry.
  • Corroboration (30%) — how many independent sources report the same event.
  • Recency (15%) — how fresh the most recent item is.
  • Language diversity (10%) — number of distinct source languages.
  • Official source presence (5%) — boost when an official institutional release corroborates.

The breakdown is stored with each cluster and is visible to editors.

Editorial Intelligence Editions (v2)

Global sources are monitored throughout the day. Editor-reviewed intelligence is delivered in three daily editions:

  • Morning Intelligence Brief — target 07:00 UTC. Overnight developments, Asia-Pacific close, European morning outlook.
  • Midday Signal Update — target 13:00 UTC. European and Middle Eastern activity, market and policy changes, corrections.
  • Evening Global Brief — target 19:00 UTC. Full-day synthesis, North American developments, what to watch overnight.

Optional Overnight Watch and Breaking Signal entries are manual editor actions only — they are never created or published automatically. Ingestion continues to run hourly in the background so clusters are ready for review when each edition is assembled.

The continuous cluster feed remains available on the Pulse page as the raw signal stream feeding editorial decisions.

Editor review before publish

Auto-publish is off by default. A human editor with the editor or admin role reviews each cluster's sources, adjusts the 8-dimension QSignal and Sentinel status, and only then promotes the cluster into the public Intelligence Rooms.

What QInfoNews is not

  • Not a truth oracle. Confidence is a heuristic, not a verdict.
  • Not real-time market data. We do not stream live prices.
  • Not universal coverage. Coverage is bounded by the source registry.
  • Not autonomous. Editors decide what publishes.
  • Not hourly publication. The member-facing cadence is three editor-reviewed editions per day.
  • Not every language. We work within the languages of the approved source registry.
